Not even security doors are safe

Although most homeowners install security doors to keep their property safe, some unscrupulous criminals are not deterred and even steal the burglar-proofing.

This was the case in Carletonville this week, according to the police’s communication officer, WO Peter Masooa.
He says two police officers were carrying out crime prevention patrols on 9 February. They were driving in Annan Road at about 17:00 when they spotted two men carrying white security doors.
When the suspects noticed the police following them, they quickly changed direction, but the officers caught up with them.
The men gave conflicting answers when asked where they had got the doors. One said they had got them in a park while the other said they got them next to the railway line in Agnew Road. The excuses did not save them from being arrested on a charge of being in possession of stolen property.
