Saboteurs suspected to be behind sub-station fires

The Emfuleni Local Muncipality (ELM) reported three sub-stations were burned in Unitas Park, CW4 in Delfos Boulevard and as well as in SE2 at the corner of Danie Theron, Bewes and Rossouw Streets. Residents are suspicious and believe this did not occur accidently, as the burning of the mentioned sub-stations took place in a space of three days. The most recent one being the sub-station in SE2 on January 30. Affected areas include Beverly Hills, Sebokeng, Evaton, Polokong and Bophelong where power failures lasted for days. A municipality employee said quite openly that he was also suspicious as there are missing cables at the sub-station in Unitas Park. * At the time of going to print, ELM had not responded regarding the matter.
