According to the police in Carletonville, four security guards were on duty at Corobrik between Carletonville and Westonaria when the incident occurred on Tuesday.
The guards were doing routine tasks when a group of zama-zamas stormed the business at around 03:00. They pointed firearms at the guards, overpowered them and forced them into an office. During the process, the zamas stole three 9 mm pistols from the guards. They also took a hand radio, but this device was later recovered.
At the time of the newspaper going to print, none of the stolen firearms had yet been found.
