Kia introduces the new Seltos

The new Seltos features a sporty design which measures in at 4,315 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,620mm high. This makes the Seltos one of the largest compact SUVs in its segment.  Up-front you will find a wide ‘tiger-nose’ grille which is flanked by headlights featuring LED Daytime Running Lights as standard. Higher specified derivatives will feature full LED fog lamps, headlights and indicators which is mirrored at the rear of the vehicle. The rear of the vehicle features a three-dimensional surface treatment with an integrated metallic-look skid plate and depending on the model a dual chrome exhaust garnish. Available to customers are seven exterior colours, including Glacier White Pearl, Steel Silver, Gravity Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, Intelligency Blue, Intense Red and Punchy Orange with the latter only available as a special order. Alternatively, customers can order their Seltos in one of the three two-tone colour options; Glacier White Pearl with a black roof, Intense Red with a black roof, and Punchy Orange with a white roof, the latter also only available on special order. In all four corners, the Seltos in EX guise comes fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels shod with 205/65R16 tyres.

On the interior, the entry-level EX derivative owners can expect air-conditioning, automatic headlight control, cloth upholstery, steering wheel-mounted remote controls, electric windows, cruise control, and an 8-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as Bluetooth connectivity.  Owners can also expect a six-speaker sound system, voice recognition and USB charging ports for front and rear passengers. The EX+ variant will see the upgrade from cloth upholstery to leather upholstery as well as a centre console armrest for the front occupants while on the exterior the mirrors gain an auto-folding function and the alloy wheels increase to 17-inch. The top of the range GT Line sees the addition of satin chrome and red trim, with gloss black and satin chrome detailing on the front grille as well as unique 17-inch crystal cut alloy wheels with red brake callipers. On the interior of the GT Line occupants are treated to bespoke leather upholstery with matching embroidery and the driver gains access to a D-shape steering wheel with stainless-steel pedals incorporated into the foot-well. The GT Line derivative will also allow for drivers to choose between ‘Normal’, ‘Eco’ and ‘Sport’ as well as a two-wheel-drive terrain mode with the latest version of Kia’s Drive Mode Select system.

The Seltos model also comes with a variety of standard active and passive safety systems including Advanced High-Strength Steel (AHSS) used in the safety shell design of the vehicle. All models are equipped with six airbags as standard as well as ISOFIX child seat anchors, ABS brakes, Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) as well as rear park distance control sensors and a reverse camera with dynamic guidelines.  The EX+ and GT-Line models also come equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).

The new Kia will offer three variants of motivation; the first being the 1.6-litre Multi-point Injection motor found in the EX and EX+ derivatives and can develop 90 kW and 151 N.m of torque. This motor can either be coupled with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission. The GT Line will come fitted with a new turbocharged 1.4-litre direct injection motor capable of 103 kW and 242 N.m of torque. The new motor comes married to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. In the first quarter of 2020, Kia will make available a 1.5-litre Common Rail Diesel Injection motor coupled to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

KIA Seltos models come standard with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty (inclusive of roadside assistance) and a five-year/90 000km Service Plan.
