A man was killed last night(4 August) in an alleged hit-and-run on the Vanderbijl Road, approximately 1km from the Parys turnoff.

A man was killed last night(4 August) in an alleged hit-and-run on the Vanderbijl Road, approximately 1km from the Parys turnoff.

According to Russel Meiring, spokesperson of ER24, paramedics arrived on the scene at about 19:16. On arrival they found the body of a man, believed to be in his 30s, lying in the left-hand lane.

“Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead,” said Meiring.

The vehicle in question was not found on the scene.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
