Eskom: Safety first

August marks Eskom’s annual national Electricity
Safety Month. During this period Eskom intensifies the spreading of electricity safety
messages across the country, actively engaging local schools and communities to
ensure the safe use of electricity is top of everyone’s mind.
“While issues like illegal connections, vandalism, electricity/cable theft, meter
tampering and bypassing are national problems, there are some areas with a high
prevalence,” says Miranda Moahlodi, Corporate (Occupational Health & Safety)
Senior Manager in Eskom.

The hot spot areas are in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and
the Eastern Cape.
