Child (6) killed after being hit by bakkie

A six-year-old boy was killed this afternoon (2 July) when he was hit-and-dragged by a bakkie on Magabe Street in Ikageng.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson,  paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the bakkie parked on the pavement.

“The body of the boy was found underneath the vehicle. Provincial Fire Services had to lift the vehicle to assess the child. Unfortunately, the boy had sustained numerous fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for him and he was declared dead.” said Meiring.

The driver of the bakkie was not injured.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
