Miles for a Million passes the million mark

Million passes the million mark

Their destination – the Big Red Barn in Irene. Their aim – raising R1 million for Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels. And they did it – breaking the R1 million mark totalling R1,5 million.
Hendrik Steytler, Deon Brink and Ivor Potgieter ended their gruelling 11-day route of close to 1,700 km from Cape Town to Pretoria for the “Miles for a Million Tour” at the Jacaranda FM and Tracker’s Off the Beat ‘n Track on Saturday.
Their route took them to various towns, including Parys, where they arrived on Thursday, 11 April, with only two days of mountain biking left to complete the tour.
When asked what part of the route they would describe as the most scenic, they told the Gazette that the unspoilt beauty of the Karoo struck them, complemented by the hospitality this part of SA offers those passing through.
And their biggest challenge? The upfront wind from Sutherland to Parys, which hampered their progress.
They took on the road and dirt on 3 April, inviting Jacaranda FM listeners and companies to support them by sponsoring kilometres at R500 each.

Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels, featured on the station’s “Breakfast with Martin Bester”, has been on the air for over a decade and has changed thousands of lives to date.
Whether it is a lifesaving or life-changing medical procedure, a community or school that has been hit by tragedy, a home that has to be rebuilt after a disaster, a family that just needs that financial jumpstart to get back on their feet, or a bright young mind that needs a shot at a good education, the angels are there to lend a helping hand.
