Hawks confiscate boxes of abalone

The Hawks have arrested a 31-year-old man for the possession of abalone.
According to media spokesperson, Warrant Officer Lynda Steyn, the police arrested the man on 6 March after receiving information from members of the public.
They found a suspicious Nissan NP200 and a Toyota Yaris loading boxes onto a truck at the Vaal Truck Stop.
WO Steyn said the driver noticed the police vehicle upon its arrival at the truck stop and tried to flee.
The authorities seized a white Freightliner horse and trailer and 13 boxes of abalone.
