Despite the rain, many of the patrons of Checkers Parys participated in the International Epilepsy Day Selfie Campaign on Monday morning. This was also the start of National Epilepsy Week in SA.
This year, Epilepsy Week takes place between 11 and 17 February. It focuses on the challenges facing people living with epilepsy and their achievements. The annual National Epilepsy Week initiative started in 2015 and this year’s theme is, ‘This is ME!’
Epilepsy SA’s Free State/North West branch has been celebrating the week with awareness campaigns at schools in and around Parys, Epilepsy Flashmobs, Selfie Day and a candlelight ceremony. Boeresports at the centre is also on the cards for today, Thursday, 14 February.
