Authorities who are still meeting at the scene are, however, setting up plans to make an alternative road to lead motorists around the danger area as soon as possible. This road is expected to lead through the veld on the same side of the road as Doornfontein village.

The sinkhole, which is several metres deep, is situated on the other side of the road. The ground around the sinkhole is already cracking further.
