Are you still wondering what to do this weekend? No matter what route you take, be sure to be in Parys.

If you love flowers, really love flowers – treat yourself this weekend to a caleidoscope of colour, dancing, and spectacular flower displays at the third FS/Madeira Flower Festival in Parys on 7 & 8 December. Picture more than 200 000 flowers showing a delightful explotion of everything floral – bigger and more beautiful than you have ever seen.

A joint venture between the FS government and the Autonomous State of Madeira, and hosted by the FS Gambling Liquor and Tourism Authority, the festival is all set to charm visitors into wondering if they’ve suddenly woken up in  fairy-tale.

Madeiran floral artists working non-stop to create the unbelievable floral beauty with more than 200 000 flowers.

Be sure not to miss the 1km floral procession on Saturday afternoon (8 December) in the main street of Parys, bursting with hundreds of thousands of flowers, exquisite floral floats inspired by the Big 5 Route, hundreds of choreographed performers, and giant flower puppets, performing around a spectacular flower precinct.

And if that’s not enough – this year in centenary celetrabration of the lives of Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisula, Madeiran flower artists are creating breath-taking flower carpets portraying these two icons.

The festival’s two day programme is packed with plenty activities including a Bridal Expo at Egweni River Lodge where one of the floats can also be seen after the parade.

Apart from the FS/Madeira Flower Festival, Parys is also hosting the Christmas Saddle Horse Show this weekend, and a Powerboat race on Sunday 9 December.
