The Provincial Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has informed the JB Marks municipality that its agency that is producing drivers’ licenses, Prodiba has been hit by a labour strike.
The JB Marks municipal spokesperson, Willie Maphosa says consequently the production of licenses has been held up.
‘The JB Marks Municipality is working in partnership in relation to the administration of the license testing. However, it is the department that has commissioned an agency Prodiba to produce the end product. As a result of the reported labour action, we are unfortunately not in a position to issue the licenses to all deserving and qualifying candidates at this moment,’ he said.
Maphosa says the municipality will stay in contact with the provincial department to monitor when these licenses can be available. Information will be released immediately once the situation has returned to normal.
‘We regret the current situation and apologize for any inconvenience caused,’ he said.
