This is a call to all parkrunners in Parys and surrounds, to join the Parys parkrunners on Saturday on their scenic route along the Vaal River.
parkrun Parys has hosted 199 success-ful events since they started in 2014. This Saturday they hope to break through the 200-participant barrier for the first time.
All the usual rules apply, so as long as you are in good health, you are welcome to join, whether you prefer to run or walk.
Those who have been hibernating this winter will be welcomed back. Dust off those running shoes, haul out those running shorts, and join them to breathe in the fresh country air. Bring along a friend, partner or your child to help boost the numbers. Prams can be pushed on this course and it is a dog-friendly event. Please remember to keep your dog on a leash at all times, and to pick up after your dog. If you are a registered parkrunner, remember to bring along your parkrun barcode and to show your newcomer friends how to register.
Your free parkrun barcode can be used to log your participation at any of the 152 park-runs in South Africa, and at hundreds of locations around the world. Having a barcode is not compulsory, but it is essential if you would like to receive your time (by email after the event) or you are aiming for the parkrun milestones of 50 and 100 completed parkruns.
All parkrun events are timed, free and are made possible by volunteers and parkrun’s sponsors – Mr Price Sport, Discovery Vitality and Dischem. The Parys parkrun venue is the Mimosa Gardens. Enter at the corner of Boom Street and Father Balink (previously Kruis Street). The run starts at 08:00. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start so you hear the event briefing. As parkrun relies heavily on volunteers (marshals, timekeepers, scanners, token issuers, a run director, a tail walker, setup volunteers), we thank them in advance for their support at the 200th event.
