Remember this weekend: Ward 12 - Registration weekend

Residents of Ward 12 in Parys are reminded that the three voting stations in the area will be open this weekend to enable them to register to vote in the by-election on 5 September.
The vacancy occurred after the resignation of the DA councillor, Saal de Jager, for personal reasons.
The Parys Library, Parys Town Hall and AME St Leonard Church Hall will be open from 08:00 till 17:00 on both Saturday and Sunday (21 and 22 July).
IEC staff will register new voters,        re-register voters who have moved since they originally registered, and obtain address details from voters whose addresses are missing or wrong.
‘Following a court ruling, voters rolls must contain the correct address of every voter or they will not be allowed to vote,’ says DA Ngwathe caucus leader, Carina Serfontein.
‘Ward 12 includes a large part of Parys and a portion of Tumahole,’ says Shirley Vermaak, who serves on an IEC liaison committee.
The town section excludes Oudewerf Park and most of Golf Island. It also excludes the area south of Third Avenue. The western boundary of Ward 12 is roughly along Unie Street up to Loop Street and then along Noorder Street to the river.
‘As a rough guide, Ward 12 residents living north of Schilbach Street must be registered at the Town Hall, and those south of Schilbach Street, at the library,’ says Vermaak.
Registered voters can check where they are registered by sending an SMS with their ID number to 32810. They can also update their details online (www.elections.org.za/MyIEC), or visit the IEC’s office in Liebenbergstrek, Parys.
You have to be 18 years and older and a South African citizen to vote.
