Murder accused confesses

Carletonville - The man accused of murdering an elderly resident of Senatus in Carletonville has signed a confession before a magistrate. The body of the late Mrs Destiny Geyser Newberry was discovered on the gravel road on the corner of Geldenhuys and Rautenbach streets on 22 May.

Thanks to the excellent work of members of the SVC (serious and violent crimes) unit and of the police in Carletonville’s tracing team, sergeants Jacques Nagel and Wynand Kruger and constables Michael Ramasimong, Stephen Kharejane and Samuel Mosieleng, her car and some of her possessions were recovered at the house of a former employee in Khutsong Ext. 5 the next day.

The man was promptly arrested.
The suspect, Gibson Lion Zwalakhe, appeared in the Oberholzer Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 25 May.He will be in court again on 11 June for a possible bail application.
