Parys parkrun attracted a record number of participants for their “New Year’s Day Double”.
Both Potchefstroom parkrun and Meyerton parkrun started their events early, at 07:00, to give parkrunners time to get from these venues to Parys for the 09:00 start.
New Year’s Day is the one occasion where doubles are held officially and both events count towards parkrun points.
Between locals, general visitors and ‘double’ participants from Potch and Meyerton, Parys logged a record nuber of 195 participants!
Local parkrunner Francois Joubert reached his 100 parkrun milestone after running in both Potch and Parys events.
Parys parkrun celebrated their 3rd birthday in November. Their previous participation record was set in October 2016 at 168 parkrunners.
parkrun is a free, timed five kilometre run/walk held every Saturday morning at 08:00 from Mimosa Gardens.
