The badly disfigured body of a 25-yearold man was found on the N12 a day after he was reported missing. Heinrich Cronje had asked his girlfriend to drop him off on the N12 on Sunday morning, 12 November. According to his father, he last saw Cronje at a work function at the Western Deep Levels. He and his girlfriend had apparently left in a car and after she dropped him off, she saw him walking back towards Westonaria. A missing person docket was opened on Sunday afternoon when the victim never arrived home. A search ensued on Monday and, during the operation, a friend contacted Cronje’s father to say they had received information from the police. According to him, the body of a man had been found on the N12 on Monday morning. The family later positively identified the body at the Carletonville mortuary. The distraught father told the Herald that Cronje was found with his mother’s car keys and his phone in his possession. He had apparently been hit by a truck and had been ridden over by two more
vehicles. ‘He was in a very bad condition,’ said the devastated father.
