Several children were injured in accidents that took place during the past week.

An accident involving a Quantum taxi transporting school children took place on 20 May around 15:45 at Dolomite Street in Carletonville.

The driver alleged that the breaks malfunctioned as he was turning into Dolomite Street when he drove into a tree. 16 passengers were injured which included 13 children from pre-school. Two school children and an senior citizen were taken to hospital. One child was airlifted to hospital due to critical injuries.

Another accident which involved school children took place on Monday morning 25 May when two primary school children attempted to cross the road and were hit by a vehicle on the Welverdiend to Carletonville Road at Ext. 5 near the taxi rank.

The children were badly injured but they were stabilised on the scene. One child was airlifted to Baragwanath Hospital for sustaining multiple injuries.

An accident involving a red Hyundai took place on 15 May on the BlyBank Road where one passenger was slightly injured.

On Saturday 16 May an accident occurred on the corner of Onyx and Ada Street in Carletonville between a taxi and a Land Rover. The passengers sustained minor injuries. An accident occurred on the Saturday night on the Raatskraal road outside Fochville and two people were transported to hospital.

On 13 May an accident took place between a vehicle and a truck on the R559 approximately 10km from Carletonville and apparently two people were injured, treated and transported to hospital. An accident also occurred in Fochville at Loopspruit Street on 15 May where one person died on the scene. A head-on collision took place on the P111 Road on 6 May where six people were injured.

The ER24 and ARS were deployed to the scenes to treat and transport the injured.
