The latest drug in schools looks, tastes and smells like strawberry pop rocks, (the kind of candy that sizzles and pops in your mouth) but police warn that it is extremely dangerous.
According to the Carletonville SAPS station commander, Brig. Marinda Prinsloo, this ‘strawberry quick’ or ‘strawberry meth’ is not nearly as innocent as it seems. It is a version of crystal meth that is specially designed to target school children and is apparently being handed to learners on the school grounds. ‘Children ingest the drug,
thinking it’s candy, and have to be rushed to the hospital in a dire condition,’
she warned. Parents are advised to be on the lookout for the new drug and to instruct their children not to accept candy from strangers.’
