The company, Blyvoor Gold, has officially received the most important go-ahead to continue with activities at Blyvooruitzicht.
According to the mine’s liquidator, Mr Leigh Roering, the Minister of Mineral Resources (DMR), Mr Mosebenzi
Zwane, officially confirmed on 7 August that the mining rights for Blyvooruitzicht had been transferred to Blyvoor
Gold, officially known as Blyvoor Gold Capital. This paves the way for the company to possibly start activities at
the mine again.
Blyvoor Gold has plans that can lead to some miners being employed again as it wants to resurrect the Blyvoor’s
old 5 Shaft. This company bought 5 Shaft as well as the slimes dams and Blyvoor’s old gold plant.
In the meantime, however, there is still no clarity about what will happen to Blyvoor’s village. According to Roering,
negotiations are still underway with the Housing Development Agency, which has indicated that it is still busy
with an assessment of how the village can possibly be helped.
