The Parys parkrun celebrated its second birthday in early November. Well established, this community event has welcomed growth in the number of local participants over the past few months. Numbers are often boosted by visitors from parkruns both nearby and from around the country.

During the holiday period, parkruns continue to take place every Saturday morning at 08h00, starting from Mimosa Gardens (entrance at the corner of Boom & Kruis Streets). Everyone is welcome, including children, babies in prams and dogs on leads. Even though the event is called ‘parkrun’, walkers make up the majority of the participants. Parkrun is a free event, run by volunteers.

On New Years Day, Sunday 1 January 2017, Parys parkrun has teamed up with Potch parkrun for a ‘double feature’. Parkrunners are invited to first attend the Potch parkrun at 07h00 and then to enjoy our Parys parkrun at 09h00. Both of these events will be timed and regular parkrunners will receive points and an event count from each of these ‘Special Occasion’ events.
