Bothaville: Members of Bothaville SAPS and Welkom K9 Unit worked around the clock in search for a 4 year old Lerato Sontjantja who went missing on the 12 December 2016. The little girl was found in the morning of the 13 December and returned to her parents.

The little girl was reported missing at about  20:30 from Eenkant farm in Bothaville. Constable Mike Ngwemla and Sergeant Molefi Ntlhokwe of Bothaville Community Service Centre (CSC) attended the scene and immediately initiated the search.

The search was conducted through the entire night until members from Welkom K9 Unit  Warrant Officer Hollie Holtzhausen and Warrant Officer Willie Swanepoel with their dogs were engaged from 02:00 to assist with the search.  The dogs specialising in search and rescue, namely Bennie and Kazaan belonging to Warrant Officer Willie Swanepoel from Bloemfontein began with the search.

The search continued around the clock until at about 07:15 in the morning of the 13 December 2016 when the girl child was found walking alone next to the tar road between Bothaville and Leeudoringstad.  The girl who was found looking tired was given water and chocolate and safely taken back to her parents.

Welkom Cluster Commander Major General Apaphia Modise applauded the members for job well done in ensuring that the child was brought back to her parents without any harm.  This gesture will once more showcase our readiness to tackle criminals activities during this Festive Season. I am very proud of these members of Bothaville as well as members of Welkom and Bloemfontein K9 Unit  for their selfless efforts to serve and protecting the vulnerable like this little girl child. A stern warning to parents please ensure that you know the whereabouts of your little ones.
