Audiologists making hearing clearer

Audiology is a well-respected and highly recognized profession.

This review is according to the University of Cape Town:

What is an audiologist?

Audiologists are health-care professionals who evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage hearing loss, tinnitus, and balance disorders in newborn, children, and adults. Audiology is a well-respected and highly recognized profession.
The Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers two undergraduate degrees:

Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Bachelor of Science in Audiology.

These two degrees lead to registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Speech-Language Therapist or an Audiologist. Students and graduates are also encouraged to join the professional association, the South African Speech Language and Hearing Association (SASLHA).

Both degree programmes can be completed in four years. The first two years of the four year degree programmes are common in that all students are required to complete these courses. At the end of this time, students pursue their chosen profession in either the Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology stream for further study.
