It all adds up with Avishkar

It was technical rather than boring. It challenges your mind because different places have different set ways they want their books to be managed.

Youth Revolution interviewed Avishkar Jagesur who was an accountant at Unlimited Recycling since 2009 and this is what he had to say about being a chartered accountant:

YR: What is a chartered accountant?

Avishkar: A person who handles accounts and balance sheet accounts. Basically all the financial responsibilities.

YR: How long and where did you study for chartered accountancy?

Avishkar: I studied via UNISA for six years. The 4th and the 5th year is an internship. You start off as a junior accountant.

YR: What subjects should school children concentrate on in schools?

Avishkar: Must be good at maths, accountancy and business economics.

YR: Where do Accountants generally work?

Avishkar: Work for a firm, but you can get enough experience to open your own accounting firm.

YR: What did you enjoy most about the course in UNISA?

Avishkar:

YR: Would you encourage the youth to study accounting?

Avishkar: Yes. There is a gap in the market. It is a lot of work and sacrifice though!

YR: And finally, a message to the youth?

Avishkar: Take things as they come, work hard. Be knowledgeable.
