Lungelo hurtles along and breaks the record

Lungelo Mthembu, who ran the 400m race in 52.79 seconds, this excellent time ensured that he broke the record for the U/17 boys.

Gala: On Tuesday, January 31, Dundee High School (DHS) hosted its annual gala. It was a massive success, with swimmers from various age groups taking part. There were many fun races like the ‘dash for cash’ and ‘T-shirt race’.
It was a case of saving the best for last when the top swimmers put together a team in order to compete against an ‘old scholars/teachers’ team.
Needless to say, the teachers – Mr Blom, Mr Kelbrick, Mr Ayob and Mr Lippke – won the race, leaving the young hopefuls in their wake.
It was a wonderful day in the sun, with plenty of talent and team spirit to go around.
Athletics: On Friday, February 3, DHS hosted its annual athletics meeting.
This was also a splendid day where the whole school took part in field and track events. There were quite a few athletes who showcased tremendous talent and were able to outshine their opponents.
One such athlete was Lungelo Mthembu, who ran the 400m race in 52.79 seconds. This excellent time ensured that he broke the record for the U/17 boys.
He showed excellent form and composure to cross the finish line in a blistering new record time.
There were quite a few athletes who took part in high jump and performed very well. Overall, it was a lovely day with excellent weather and great camaraderie shown by all.
