Community members support AbaQulusi radio station prayer

Aside from the radio station itself, prayers were also said for Grade 12 pupils as they write their final matric exams, as well as bring an end to gender-based violence and all other social ills such as alcohol and drug abuse.

AbaQulusi Community Radio (ACR) held a prayer at the King Zwelithini Hall on Friday.

The main purpose was to pray for the radio station, the management and the broadcasters of the various shows. They asked God to protect the station and give wisdom to the people working there.

This is the first prayer session to be held by the station and plans are in the pipeline to make it an annual event. Aside from the radio station itself, prayers were also said for Grade 12 pupils as they write their final matric exams, as well as bring an end to gender-based violence and all other social ills such as alcohol and drug abuse.

Community members came out in numbers to attend the prayer session and were entertained by local gospel singers, as well as worshippers. Pastors such as Rev Ngema, Pastor J Ngema, Bishop Zakwe, Rev Zitha, Pastor Ndongweni and others were given a platform to pray.

Radio station manager Busi Thusini thanked everyone who was in attendance and promised that with their support, ACR FM will grow and reach its full potential. She thanked the ever-dedicated presenters who, despite being volunteers, put in great effort to make sure that their listeners stay informed, educated and entertained. She also thanked the community of Abaqulusi who listen to ACR for their continuous support – assuring them that this is their radio station and it is there to listen to them and develop them, so they must not shy away from using it to voice anything they feel is important. “Community radio is a voice for its people.” She concluded by thanking the board of directors for their support in ensuring that the station has governance and order.

Dr Moloi, Dr Buthelezi, Miss Nqobile Mbatha, Mr SSS Mhlungu, Mr Siyabonga Ngobese, Pastor Ndokweni, Dr VE Ndwandwe, Reverend Sithebe, Mr Ngcebo Nkosi and Mr Dumisani Nxele, to name but a few, are contributors to the different shows that are aired on ACR. They were thanked for supporting the station, as well as all the advertisers and sponsors of the shows. A call was made to other businesses to also come on board and support the local station.
