Bags and bags of blood to end off World Donor Month

A total of 23 units were collected, saving 69 lives (as each unit can save three lives).

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) urged residents to donate blood this past month, as June was World Blood Donor Month.
The community of Dundee heard the call and went to donate at various sites.
The most recent local blood drive was at the Boulevard Centre on Wednesday last week.
Lavina Morgan, a Dundee resident who currently works as an instructor at Basic Training for South African Services in Kimberly, was visiting family and decided to donate blood as well.
“I am well aware that because of the recent floods in Durban and surrounding areas, blood supply is critical in the country at the moment.
“That is why I decided to donate,” explained Lavina.
This was his 13th donation and he added that he will continue to save lives by rolling up his sleeve at these blood drives.
