Junior boxers excel at World Championships

The mayor congratulated Phiwokuhle Mnguni (21) and Lethokuhle Sibisi (20), as well as Coach Nathi Hlatshwayo on keeping the South African flag and Endumeni flag flying high.

There was great excitement at Endumeni Municipality when Mayor Siyabonga Ndlovu and Speaker Andile Nsibande, as well as other councillors, held an event in celebration of junior boxers in the area.
The event was in honour of the great achievements of two up-and-coming female boxers who represented South Africa at the World Championships in Mozambique and Singapore earlier this year.

The mayor congratulated Phiwokuhle Mnguni (21) and Lethokuhle Sibisi (20), as well as Coach Nathi Hlatshwayo on keeping the South African flag and Endumeni flag flying high.

Both young ladies started their boxing career at an early age and have won many titles on their way to competing in the World Championships.

Hlatshwayo, who has been coaching these boxers for many years, was impressed and said it took a lot of hard work and training to get to this point.
He is extremely proud of their performance at the championships and hopes they go on to represent South Africa at the 2024 Commonwealth Games in London.
The speaker and all the councillors who were present also congratulated the boxers and their coach on their wonderful achievements.
These two ladies who ‘pack a punch’ also received scholarships to study further at university.
All the equipment at the municipal gym, which is situated in Dundee, was damaged in the severe storms earlier this year and council is hoping that renovations will start soon to assist all up-and-coming sportsmen and -women as they train at this venue.
