Natural Craft: Make a leaf lantern with your child

Creating crafts with leaves is a great way for your kids to enjoy nature in a creative way! One of our favourite crafts is this leaf lantern.

Why not spend a morning collecting a bunch of pretty leaves in the park and use them to make a lantern with just a marmalade jar and the leaves.

In this tutorial, Makoccino – a video blogger – shows us just how easy it is for you and your child can transform autumn leaves, mod podge, and a glass jar into a beautiful lantern perfect for outdoor spring nights.

Provided that there’s adult supervision, this DIY project could be a fun activity to help keep the kids busy over the weekend. And, since we’ll be using collected autumn leaves and re-purposing a clean glass jar, this DIY décor project scores extra points for being budget-friendly!

What you need

  • Mod podge
  • A glass jar
  • Pressed autumn leaves
  • Clear sticky tape
  • A paint brush
  • Wood glue
  • Twine
