New Hyundai Tucson N Line debuts with beefier look

Following the reveal of Hyundai’s new Tucson SUV late last year, the Korean marque has taken the wraps off its N Line variant.

The N Line trim is like what the R Line is to the Volkswagen brand and it adds only cosmetics, so, expect no changes to the performance.

On the outside, the new Hyundai Tucson N Line is equipped with an aggressive look that comes courtesy of a beefier body kit, dual exhausts, and 19-inch wheels.

External hue is an exclusive Shadow Gray paint and buyers can have its roof finished in Phantom Black at an added charge. Should buyers tick on the black roof box, they can have the Tucson N Line in other four main body paints; Dark Knight, Sunset Red, Engine Red, Polar White, while the single-tone finishes are Shimmering Silver and Phantom Black.

According to Hyundai, the steering has been tweaked and it will offer a more engaging drive when the Sport mode is selected.

Inside, the Hyundai N Line is bolstered with N-badged front seats with greater lateral support. The interior is further equipped with red stitching, black headliner as well as a glossy black finish.

Metal pedals, footrest and side sills complete the changes inside.

In terms of power, the new Tucson range will be powered by three electrified engine options and two internal combustion engines matched with four transmission choices.

A 1.6-litre turbocharged T-GDI petrol engine and a 44.2 kW electric motor will do the job and will employ a six-speed automatic transmission. A combined power output of 169 kW will be sent to the front wheels or to all four wheels.

There is a turbocharged petrol engine that is hybrid assisted. It spawns a 48V mild-hybrid with 110 kW and 132 kW. The 11 kW can be had in FWD format while the latter can be had in AWD form.

Hyundai says a 1.6-litre petrol engine comes with 110 kW while the diesel unit churns out 85 kW. A plug-in hybrid will be offered at a later stage with 195 kW.
