Vendors steamed at market day’s turnout

And for those who felt like they needed a makeover, they could get their face painted

Tight ‘Janu-worry’ budgets may be to blame for poor attendance at the Early Valentine’s Paddadam Market on Saturday.
Even though exhibitors were geared for a day of sales, displaying their products in the most inviting way, the vending of the products didn’t go as well as they had expected.
Exhibitors were from Vryheid and surrounding areas.
Pizzas, boerewors rolls, bunny chow and traditional curry and rice were but a few of the delicious food items on offer.
Those who needed a little sweetness after lunch could tuck into home-made biscuits, rusks and lucky packets. And for those who felt like they needed a makeover, they could get their face painted. Those who were looking for a special gift to spoil a special someone on Valentine’s Day had more than enough to choose from. In the true spirit of the month of love, there were wooden hearts and other objects, all engraved with words of love. For those who preferred to surprise their loved one with something original, they had the option of purchasing them some of the extraordinary succulent plants on sale.
Maarten Grobler was on stage as always, to entertain the crowds with some live music. Market-goers said besides being a slow day, it was also very hot, but fortunately they could cool down with a craft beer.
Overall, it was an enjoyable day.
