Motorcycle crew speeds up for charity

The charity event had many attractions such as: biker games, a tattoo artist, food stalls, jumping castles and stunts by AJ Olivier, who goes by the stage name Wheeligan.

Bikers warmed up their engines and their hearts on Saturday (November 2) to Hope in Christ Children’s Home.

The celebration for a good cause started at 9am at the Newcastle Rugby Club (Arbor Park Grounds), when bikers from across Newcastle and from neighbouring towns came together to support the community and the children’s home.

“We are so grateful for the bikers and how they went out of their way to start all of this; how they are supporting Hope in Christ as well as the Bridge Church, which represents the heart of God; helping the orphans who are lost and who need to be loved and cared for,” said Richard Kohly from the church.

Despite dedicating the day to charity, the intention was also to have fun and bring friends and family together.

The charity event had many attractions such as: biker games, a tattoo artist, food stalls, jumping castles and stunts by AJ Olivier, who goes by the stage name Wheeligan.

He left the crowd speechless with daring stunts including wheelies, stoppies and burnouts.

Representatives of Hope in Christ commented:

“The money that was raised will be spent on our community program, where we assist underprivileged children from the local community with academic support, and a feeding scheme. Most of the children are in Grade 1 and are struggling academically.’’
