Brighten up a child’s heart with a toy

Toys can be donated at two separate drop off stations

As Christmas approaches and families begin their festive shopping, there are underprivileged children who can only dream of a Christmas gift.

Their biggest concern during this time of year is their next meal, let alone a present.

Through the combined initiative of Vryheid Nissan, Sign Centre and Spar however, this year will be a lot different for many underprivileged children.

The Vryheid Nissan Toy Drive has been launched and many nonprofit organisations (Child Welfare, Lions, Round Table and Christelike Maatskaplike Dienste) are on board.

These organisations plead with the Vryheid community, schools and businesses to make a donation in the form of toys, sweets or party packs.

Toys for children of all ages are welcome, whether old or new (in good condition).

When donating for children of an older age (for instance teenagers), toiletries such as hand cream, deodorant, bubble bath and items like diaries are always appreciated.

Donations can be dropped into the Toy Drive branded vehicle at Spar and Vryheid Nissan until December 15.

On December 16, organisers hope to have a huge parade along the streets of Vryheid, during which the nonprofit organisations will make their way to different areas to spread the cheer to those in need.

“Come on Vryheid – we can do this! We did it for the pets, now let us do it for the children!”
