Cheers and good cheer at Michaelis Octoberfest

"Ein Prosit, ein Prosit"

“Ein Prosit, ein Prosit,
Der Gemütlichkeit,
Ein Prosit, ein Prosit,
Der Gemütlichkeit.”
An unwritten law states that after a band plays this classic tune, patrons must count to three, lift their beer mug into the air, say cheers (prost) to their fellow patrons and drink.
Last Friday, residents enjoyed a taste of Germany at Michaelis Private School’s annual Oktoberfest. Some guests attended the event dressed in traditional attire, while all tapped their feet to the variety of music including a German version of the Chicken Dance, the Village People hit YMCA, and Biggy’s latest hit, Dames. Scrumptious Eisbein had carnivores groaning in contentment. Many opted for takeaways due to the sheer size of the meat, which was accompanied by Sauerkraut and German potato salad in authentic Oktoberfest style.
Laughter and lively spirits meant guests of all ages partied well into the night.
