Patrons enjoy a fine wine and dine experience

With elegant finishes to the table settings, guests were anxious to start the evening of fine dining.

Icy cold wind and rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of those who attended the monthly Wine and Dine at Blackrock Casino on Friday night (October 18).

With elegant finishes to the table settings, guests were anxious to start the evening of fine dining.

After a short presentation by Food and Beverage Duty Manager, Heilgert Holtzhausen, the appetizer was served.

The tomato and parmesan tart was topped with a basil infused cream cheese mousse, and paired perfectly with a smooth Douglas Green Cabernet Sauvignon.

Once the plates were polished, guests mingled and chatted before starters were brought out.

A contemporary and hearty lamb cottage pie, accompanied with sweet and sour cucumber noodles and drizzled with a minted red wine jus, was elevated with a spicy Douglas Green Pinotage.

With appetites whet, it was time to move onto the main course.

Beef roulade, coated with a mushroom, pepper and herb crust and stuffed with chimichurri was accompanied with a hasselback potato, butternut puree and sauteed broccoli florets and served with a Worcestershire, balsamic and honey reduction. This was paired with a decadent Douglas Green Shiraz.

Dessert was another revelation of gastronomic pleasure – a coconut and mixed berry panna cotta bar, granadilla and honey coulis, topped with caramelised mixed nut spikes and paired with a light Boschendal Rose.

The evening culminated with a prize draw, with many delighted guests walking away with bottles of the wine served at the dinner.

The next Wine and Dine experience will take place on November 15, and will be the final one for this year.
