There’s a great line-up of fun activities for the whole family this weekend.

Start off with a dose of outdoor exercise at the Grey Goose Game Lodge, which hosts the free weekly parkrun. This is a 5km event, which is volunteer-led. Contact Wonda Wilson on 082 572 3336 for details.

Treasure Hunt:
October 12 – The Old Hooters Club will host a treasure hunt on Saturday. This will start at the Old Hooters Club House, situated in the Old Iscor Club (Hollywood Casino) grounds. Ask for directions at the gate. The events begins at 1pm. Entry fee is R20 and everyone is welcome.

Religious:

A Grand Diwali Show:
October 12 – Presented by the Diwali Celebration Committee, the annual Diwali Show will take place at the Richview Civic Hall from 5pm for 5.30pm. Entrance is free. Supper will be provided, courtesy of Iskcon Newcastle. Stalls are available and religious organisations will render bhajans, plays, songs and dances. The show this year will feature Avantika Sangeeth and Prakash Orchestra from Ladysmith, accompanied PK Soni. For details, contact Ishwar on 082 464 2344 or Pravesh on 082 859 9284.

Ncandu Bowls:

Golf:

Kilbarchan Golf Club – October 12 is the Fred Lovelock Monthly Mug, while the Kilbarchan Open takes place on October 13 (event sponsored by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce).

Newcastle Golf Club – On October 11 is the ABSA Morester Charity Golf Day (regular Sundowner tee off time is moved to 3pm), and October 12 is the Rotary Charity Golf Day.
