Memel Mini-market gains momentum

Johan explained the purpose of the market was to encourage the building of a community spirit, and was seen as a way to showcase the talents of the town’s residents.

Despite a coolish start to the day, the fourth monthly Memel Mini-market was exceptionally well supported by enterprising entrepreneurs and interested visitors.

It was the fourth such market to be held in Memel, and according to the organisers, Johan and Susan Venter, the market has gone from strength to strength.

Starting with only four entrepreneurs, this number has increased to 14.

Johan explained the purpose of the market was to encourage the building of a community spirit, and was seen as a way to showcase the talents of the town’s residents.

He said there were already entrepreneurs from Newcastle in attendance.

There were stalls selling cookies and cakes, tantalising curry and rice and other sweet treats, while Ella Roux proudly displayed her handmade quilts.

Sandra Hedges led the way to a healthier lifestyle and Sally Dell had delightfully knitted dolls for sale.

Should you wish to participate in the next Mini-market, on October 5 at 58 President Steyn Street, Memel, call Johan 076 792 7002 or Susan 082 940 6739 and book a spot at a cost of R50 per table.

Otherwise, visit and be pleasantly surprised at the variety of items on offer.
