This radio presenter, who hosts Weekend Controller on Friday and Saturday evenings on Ukhahlamba Community Radio, recently rubbed shoulders with entertainment’s elite at the Black Entertainment Awards.

Hosted in Johannesburg on July 26, the awards ceremony aims to recognise talent in the entertainment industry and shine a light on these individuals. Mava was nominated in the ‘Best Radio Presenter’ category.

“Shock and excitement!” exclaimed Mava when asked how he felt about the nomination.

“I am always trying to push, always knocking on doors, and this was unexpected and amazing,” he continued.

The awards ceremony was held at Uncle Tom’s Community Centre in Orlando West and was a glittering occasion.

Mava was proud to report that although he did not win, he was presented with a certificate for being the runner-up. For him, this is a gigantic achievement for a small-town lad.
