Bergville’s Sjava scoops music awards at the SAMA’s

Sjava walked away with Album of the Year and Best Afro Pop Album

From Bergville to South Africa and beyond, Jabulani “Sjava” Hadebe is holding his hometown flag high.

The popular South African musician bagged two awards at the 25th anniversary of the South African Music Awards held on Saturday at the Sun City Superbowl.

Sjava won Best Afro-Pop Album and Album of the Year, adding to the multiple awards he already has to his name.

These are the first two awards he has achieved for his album ‘Umqhele’, which features the songs ‘Umama’ and ‘Abafazi’.

“I am happy and the awards mean a lot to me. I am grateful to the judges, who agreed that my work deserved these two awards. I am happy that I can deliver authentic music that people enjoy. Thank you to everyone who supports my music; I promise to always heal and entertain people through my music,” said the award-winning artist.

Ambitiouz Entertainment CEO Kgosi Mahumapelo said the stable is proud of Sjava.

“His album ‘Umqhele’ has been doing amazingly well since its release. It makes me happy to see his hard work being appreciated in the music industry. We are proud of him and we look forward to partnering with him in achieving even higher feats in the future,” he said.

Sjava was recently featured in a German musical platform, ‘Colors Show’.
