Dear Reader,

There are only a couple more days left until the annual Airshow, and this year the free entrance is bound to attract aviation lovers from across the country.

In conjunction with the Newcastle Airshow committee, the Newcastle Advertiser ran a competition in last week’s edition, where readers had to find and count the aeroplanes hidden across our publication.

Thank you to all those who participated – I received a whopping 200 entries!

This week’s bumper edition has plenty for you to read and enjoy. From inspiring the youth with graduation success, to life behind the lens with the Camera Club, you will be spoiled for choice.

As we come to the end of May, we also celebrate National Burger Month – turn to page 26 for our gorgeous Burger Feature, and another fantastic competition courtesy of a local burger franchise.

One of the facts that stood out for me while we were researching the Burger Feature is the fact that the most expensive burger in the world costs a whopping R73 500 (roughly 5 000 Dollars).

Of course, it can be found in ‘Sin City’ (Las Vegas), and is named the ‘FleurBurger’. What do you get for this hefty price tag? The burger is described thus:

“The FleurBurger was introduced in 2011 at the Hubert Keller-run restaurant Fleur, inside Mandalay Bay Casino. In addition to the usual—Kobe beef, foie gras, lots of truffles—this burger came with a rare bottle of Petrus and diners got to keep the fancy Ichendorf Brunello glasses it was poured in. The $5 000 FleurBurger price tag would tie it with the Guinness World Record for most expensive hamburger, a title held by Juicys in Corvallis, Oregon.”

That’s a lot of burger…
