Too often there are reports about children being depressed or ending their lives.

But then there are many parents who don’t spend much time with their kids either because of too much work or too much socialising.

Stop blaming everyone and everything else! No it’s not just the friends and the school… Sadly some families don’t even see the importance of eating dinner together.

But spending time with your kids should always remain your number one responsibility. Don’t you think it’s fitting for a parent to be spending time with their children rather than a nanny, caretaker or the school teacher?

Yes it is understandable that some parents work tough hours but when you do get time for get everything else and spend time with them.

Children are under a lot of pressure – studies, social media, instant gratification, discovering their own sexuality, neglect by busy parents, and so on.

But they need our support.

They are smart and observe what you do, much more than what we say. They see parents as role models…you may not think its true but they absorb the thing they hear and see you do.

My word of advice would be too always keep the lines of communication open, it something I would have wanted more off as a teen.

It’s important to build a relationship of trust. They are unlikely to tell you everything but continue to be there for them.

Spend actual face time and not WhatsApp  or chatting on WhatsApp with them to be able to observe their body language. It’s impossible to build that trust without spending time with them.

Parents revisit the need to invest in your children. Here invest is not in terms of money but in terms of time.
