Packet o’ Peanuts – Vryheid’s hidden musical treasure

It's difficult to describe the exact sound of Packet o' Peanuts, but it is certainly a sound that is pleasant on the ears. Frikkie's warm and melodic vocals, along with the soulful synchronicity of these local musicians who just seem to gel together perfectly, culminates in a musical blend that leaves the listener yearning to hear more.

IN an era of what some might call ‘disposable music,’ once in a while something comes along that makes you want to turn down the volume of the rest of the world and listen just a little bit closer.

Local band, ‘Packet o’ Peanuts’ is one such hidden musical treasure that has remained clandestinely concealed… until recently, that is.

Brothers in law, Frikkie and Pieter Erasmus, have been playing music and writing together since the late 90’s and both contribute to the band’s soulful sound with vocals and guitar, along with, more recently, JJ Coetzer on drums.

At Kay and Natasha Mostert’s Boho Chic style wedding, Frikkie Erasmus, Pieter Erasmus and JJ Coetzer.

The band recently performed at the wedding of Kay and Natasha Mostert at Villa Beryl Guesthouse, where they sang covers of three songs at the request of the newlyweds, adding a warmth and opulence to the evening as they made each song resonate with their own distinctive sound.

But don’t be fooled… Packet o’ Peanuts is by no means a cover band. They have been writing their own original songs for nearly two decades and hopefully, in the not too distant future, the band will allow their soulful sound and heartwarming harmony to spill over to those outside their own social circles.
