SPCA Corner – Details essential when reporting crimes

Thank you to Neela and Desegen for their donation of cat and dog food.

An outrage was sparked when a photo of an emaciated young Greyhound was posted on the Dundee/Glencoe Classifieds Facebook page.

The owner was wanting to sell this dog and claimed that the animal had fallen off a bakkie onto the road. The dog was subsequently confiscated from the owner by the SPCA. Concerned readers contacted the Courier asking how the public should react to these type of posts.

The NSPCA commented as follows: “Rather than venting your undoubted feelings of fury or outrage, try to save time by recording the details – when, where, what, etc. The source needs to be investigated.”

Please report any future posts of this nature to the Dundee SPCA, tel: 034 212 2851 or NSPCA on 011 907 3590.
