School’s out for the summer break

Vryheid Herald journalists, while out and about last Wednesday, met two pupils, who were enjoying their first day of the festive season.

LAST Wednesday marked the end of the 2016 school year for school-going children across the country.

Excited for the Christmas holiday that lies ahead, pupils from local schools began their December break with glorious weather as sunny skies set the backdrop for the first day of a month-long school holiday.

Vryheid Herald journalists, while out and about last Wednesday, met two such pupils, who were enjoying their first day of festive season fun on their bicycles in Boeren Street.

Wynand Clack, a young MotoGP enthusiast, will be going to high school in Westville next year and aspires to be a chemical engineer when he grows up, while Eduan Lindeque is intent on working towards a lucrative rugby career.

The 2017 school year will begin on January 11.
