Golfer Lionel Shawe finishes Birdie, Birdie.

Bertie Venter made his presence known back on the golf course

This past Saturday saw 38 golfers at Dundee Country Club taking advantage of the nice warm winter day, just hours before the cold front arrived, and it was great to see a few of our regular Saturday golfers back on the course again. Winning the I.P.S. format competition was local farmer and one of the club’s stalwarts, Lionel Shawe. Lionel finished his round with a birdie on 17 and 18 to score 39 points which enabled him to beat Debbie Catlett on a count out.
Bertie Venter made his presence known back on the golf course by scoring 38 points and managed to beat Ronel Purchase on a count out for them to finish in third and fourth place respectively.
Three players carded a 2 club on the 12th hole, Melusi Sithole, John Zulu and Mike Gardner, with Dr Sifiso Kunene recording his 2 club on the 4th hole. Ronel Purchase was the lucky winner of the jackpot, scoring 11 jackpot points in her round of 38 points.
The annual Doctors Golf Day on Saturday, August 13 is still almost two weeks away and the response has been so overwhelming that the field is expected to be full by this weekend.
Forthcoming fixtures; Friday July 29, the third event of the 10 Hole Cross Country Golf Challenge starting at 1pm. Saturday, July 30. Club Competition will be 4 BBBS and on Wednesday 3rd August, the public holiday, the club competition will be a foursomes event.
