Throwback Thursday – June 30, 2006

The crime rate was still high as murders, theft, muggings and armed gangs made the news.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Ten years may have passed since this week’s edition of Throwback Thursday, but the stories haven’t changed much.

Ten years ago, the Biltongfees attracted a huge crowd and was filled with lots of eats and treats and fun for the whole family. The only difference between now and then is that the Biltongfees was held at Talana Museum.

The municipality made front page news after two officials were arrested for fraud for illegally trying to sell plots.

The Dundee Hospital came under fire for ‘shoddy service’. Patients complained that the nurses were very rude towards when they were sent to the hospital for treatment.

Dannhauser also had its fair share of drama as opposition parties complained that the appointment of a new Municipal Manager was deemed illegal. According to them, the only qualification the new manager had, was that he was a male nurse.
