HAIL HYDRA – Captain America’s massive turn

Is this a brave step for Marvel, or a massive stumble?

Right now, the Internet is afire with reactions to Marvel’s ultimate plot twist.

Earlier this week, the opening issue of Captain America: Steve Rogers #1 undid the unshakeable image of our favourite blond patriot.

Yes, folks, Steve Rogers was a Hydra agent the whole time!

Mass criticism has followed for writer, Nick Spencer and executive editor, Tom Brevoort, including claims the two had turned their backs on the original concept of good old Cap.

Fans pointed out the original authors were Jewish men writing about oppression.

However, in an interview with TIME, Mr Brevoort said the decision was meant to give “a feeling of horror or unsettledness at the idea that somebody like this can secretly be part of this organisation.”

What do you think? Is this a huge mistake by Marvel or one of the defining moments in comic book history? What other shocking comic book twists got you talking?
