In conclusion, Mr Manyathi told learners that we must be vigilant and ensure that we remain safe.

REPRESENTATIVES from Eskom visited Mahloni Primary School on January 14.

As it is the first time the school has had access to electricity, we invited Mr Manyathi from Eskom to run an awareness campaign, teaching the children about the dangers of electricity and how to use it safely.

He stressed to the children that electricity kills people if not used properly and with caution. He pointed out that illegal connections, connections run along the ground and instances where wires are connected directly to plug sockets, as well as cases where houses are not wired properly, meters are bypassed and plugs are overloaded are all extremely dangerous.

He tested learners after his presentation, asking questions based on what he had explained. Grade 2 learners, Slindokuhle Mngomezulu and Sphilokuhle Mdlalose both won Eskom caps by answering questions correctly. As a school, we are very pleased with this initiative and grateful for the support we receive from Eskom.
