Floral and feminine - read on for tips on how to find the perfect wedding flowers to suit your needs!

What’s a summer wedding without an abundance of fresh blooms? Choosing the perfect flowers for your wedding can be difficult.

Here’s our top 10 list to help make your choice easier:

1. The perfect florist: Don’t settle for the first florist that comes around. Interview a few florists until you find the one that shares your vision.

2. Pick a colour: when choosing the color of your flowers, make sure it will compliment the theme and style of the venue.

3. Meaning: when choosing your flowers, try to pick at least one flower that has some sort of meaning to you.

4. Close to home: Try to find a local florist. In that way, you have more control on the quality and freshness of your flowers on the day of your wedding.

5. Less is more: Be very careful when designing your bouquet and your centre pieces. You don’t want to be hidden behind your bouquet, and you don’t want your guests struggling to interact with each other around a centre piece.

6. Get creative: Try to experiment with your centre pieces by adding something special. Add a few feathers or sparkly curly wires between the flowers, and maybe replace the classic vase with something else.

7. Stick to your budget: Your flowers don’t have to cost you a fortune! You can replace it with an alternative flower that gives the same effect. If your florist is as good as they claim to be, they can make your dream bouquet within your budget. Remember, it’s not only the bouquet, its your centre pieces and venue flowers as well which must be kept into consideration.

8. The florist knows best: You have your own view about how you want your flowers to look, but keep in mind your florist has many years of experience. So be open minded to their ideas and advice towards the structure of putting together the arrangements, and in return they will respect your views and opinions the same way.

9. Consider the season: Keep in mind the season you are getting married in. Not all flowers are available at all times, so be reasonable when choosing your flowers or else you will be left disappointed.

10. Be decisive: Once you have decided on a flower, stick to your decision to avoid last minute disasters. No florist enjoys being chased around when they have already put so much work and effort into the original structure. You also don’t want to be left with a disappointment on the day of your wedding. Make sure your florist has enough time to prepare your floral masterpiece!
